The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has developed standards outlining the goals and priorities of the Infant/Toddler/Preschool Program and the Pre-Kindergarten Program. These standards are incorporated into our lesson plans and cross referenced with Creative Curriculum. Creative Curriculum was chosen because of its flexibility and child friendliness. We believe that each child should be treated individually and Creative Curriculum allows and encourages teachers to tailor curriculum guided by individual child observations.
Our teachers strive to build strong connections with our youngest children. This allows the child to feel safe and secure so they can explore their environment freely. In our Infant and Toddler program the same teachers and children move up together each year, to provide continuity of care and long-term relationships with their peers and teachers. Our classes are kept small, at eight children. Teachers focus on language, social, emotional, and motor development.
In Pre-K our certified PA Early Childhood teachers ensure school readiness through teacher and child-directed experiences. The classrooms are set up in centers, including science, math, art, dramatic play, music, sensory, library, and block play. Children receive choice time daily to explore and play in the various centers according to their interests. Our Pre-K classes go on one field trip a month, as well as visit many local establishments to complement their curriculum.
